Sullivan has been the sole owner for more than a decade while creating his own history, and had attempted to purchase the space numerous times over the years but to no avail.Over the years Southampton Publick House has received numerous awards and honors for its craft brewing, and was named Top Brew Pub by Beer Advocate Magazine in 2003. In the early 1990s, it was expanded in what renovation architect Norman Pfeiffer called "Modernist/Beaux Arts style." Markowski got acquainted with good beer at college in the ’80s, when interesting beer was hard to find. “I started drinking imports and became aware that beer could have a more complex, deeper flavor than what I was used to.” He also started hanging out with some home brewers—while working as an electrical engineer after graduation, one of his colleagues was “this English guy who homebrewed and talked about it like it was a common thing to do”—and was inspired to try it himself. Its minimalist style and linear design elements connect with the grid of Los Angeles streets which can be seen from the windows. One of Frank Lloyd Wright's most important designs, it's built of textile blocks in the style of a Mayan temple. Partly designed by John and Donald B.
